If you have been convicted of a DUI (Driving Under the
Influence), possession of illegal drugs, or underage possession of
alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, you will face a number of
legal consequences such as fines, time in jail, community service,
driver license reinstatement fees, and the completion of a
twenty (20) hour Risk Reduction Program.
The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) approves and
monitors Risk Reduction Programs in Georgia. The Risk Reduction
Program offers a two - prong approach to actually changing ones
drinking and/or drug use behavior. The Assessment Component is the
first step of this process. The Assessment must be administered
during the regular office hours ( or by appointment) of the school
where you wish to take the course. Students must remember that the
Assessment cannot be transferred to another school and must be
administered prior to the beginning of the course.
The second step of this process is the Intervention Component which
consists of a twenty (20) hour therapeutic learning event. Using the
Prime for Life curriculum, the program clarifies the roles of
quantity and frequency of alcohol/drug use play in the development
of alcohol/drug problem
